The End of an Era at Printonyx
We are spending the week walking down Memory Lane: Jeff Fitts, Printonyx’s longest term employee, will be leaving us Friday, September 1st after more than 27 years (on and off). Jeff called out of the blue two months before my first baby was due in June 1996. Maternity plans were way up in the air. He was in graduate school in California and we’d met the summer before when he was an intern at Islands Community Church.

“I don’t want to work at the donut shop again this summer,” he said. “Where have you been working this year?” I asked. “Staples, in the copy center,” he replied. That’s all I needed to know. He has been a blessing to me ever since.

These pictures were taken in the 500 sq.ft., pre-1999 shop on West Street across from Vinny’s. It was a hot, poorly insulated, oddly configured shop that we would later remodel to be 300 sq ft bigger, but it was still funky. Stay tuned for more memories and stop by this week to write a message or share your memories. Friday we invite you to an open house from 10 am to 12 noon to say goodbye!
