The Fitts Era 2012-2017
October 2012 began the much anticipated new building construction. Our landlords’ Gene and Susea Gerhard made sure we could still stay in business the process. Our pressroom was torn down first (no love lost by Jeff), then the new building went up next to us. Jeff was instrumental in planning the space and the colors.
By mid-May we rolled our equipment and supplies from the old building down a 15ft ramp into the new one. We were fantastically blessed with desks, file cabinets and paper display shelves that perfectly fit every space for a great price. Jonathan and Josh Reedy (with direction from Kris’ sister, Kelley Unger) loaded all of it into a U-Haul from an office closing in North Bend.
Then the old building was torn down and a second new building connected to the first. Student staff members were the main changes during these years: Korie Rasmussen recommended her sister Kasey take her place while Amy Dunaway was followed by her brother Eric. There was still space to fill and more changes in store…
